Topping 7 news tonight, a message from our family to yours.

We are just like you, the people you see on television, and the people you don't.

The newscasters that grew up in this area, from the northtowns to the southtowns, that grew up watching Irv and Tom, that always wanted to be part of bringing you what you need to know.

The newscasters that came to this area, who came to appreciate our rich history, that now know how to pronounce the Scajaquada.

The photojournalists that hail from Hamburg to Clarence, from North Buffalo to Lancaster, that have spent decades bringing pictures into your homes.

The Engineers from Colden to Lackawanna, that make sure the equipment is there, and that the tapes run - - so you know what to expect tomorrow.

We take care of children, parents, spouses, friends and each other.

7 News is a family, and we appreciate that you choose us to come into your living room each day and night.

We stand with you in line at the grocery store, sit next to you at the Bills game, walk the streets with you at local festivals; eat corn with you at the Eden Corn festival.

We are with you at Lucy fest, and sit with you at Art Park.

We love being able to be in Buffalo, and show you the best we have to offer.

Our family is changing though - - and we want to make sure every member has the opportunity to stay in Buffalo.

Jobs are being cut, and we have been given a proposed contract that could make it impossible for us to be at our kids’ ballgames, and care for aging parents.

As the members of the 7 News family are forced to leave - - the product suffers.

There are technical problems - - making it hard to give you the newscast that you deserve.

Right now - - we don't have the staff to be there when your child puts out a lemonade stand to benefit another sick child at his or her school.

We want to be there - - and to be able to show the stories that matter - - the ones you remember the next day.

You may have seen us outside of our advertisers, asking them to pull their ads so we get a message to our parent corporation.

We do not want to hurt those of you who have been a good revenue stream for us for years.

But we do want to send a message to the company that we deserve better, and so do you.

It is difficult for us to ask you to turn off 7 News.

But it is a short-term strategy, aimed at a long term goal - - of keeping people working and getting you the best product we can.

So please support us.

We know that it’s asking a lot during economic times we are all struggling to overcome.

We love what we do and feel it is an honor to do it in an area that we are all proud to call home.

Recent Mobilization:

 Everything is Coming Up Rosas

Over thirty Nabet and AFL-CIO union members took our "Turn off 7 News" campaign to the Sheridan Drive Rosas location.  Union brothers from WIVB-TV Channel 4 and the WNY District of the AFL-CIO came out to walk side by side with the union membership from WKBW-TV Channel 7. We have been working without a contract since January 31st.  We're asking Rosas to pull their advertising from WKBW-TV's air until the Channel 7 management negotiates fairly with its workers.
