NABET 25 Unionized Employees, WKBW-TV General Manager BILL RANSOM has laid off.
In addition to our Word of Mouth and Lawn Sign campaigns, the membership of Nabet Local 25 go out into our community to help spread the word about the problems affecting us at
Channel 7. Check out where we have been.
Party in the Plaza
What a great night at the ballpark!! This was a very high spirited good energy
evening. Many people sympathized with our cause and promised that they would call "Ransom the Rat" to have him settle a fair contract.

Customer Reads NABET Handout and Leaves Basil!
The dedicated membership of NABET 25, who have been working without a contract since January 31st, took time to leaflet at Basil Resale Center in Amherst. One member handed a leaflet to an arriving customer. After talking with the gentleman, he said that he would shop somewhere else. True to his word, he pulled into Basil and turned around and drove away. We also got a lot of attention from passing cars as they noticed our "Turn off 7" shirts.
The Community is Behind Us!!!!
This past week of mobilization was a very active one for the workers at WKBW-TV Channel 7, who have been working without a contract since January 31st. Our first stop was at the "Paddock Chevrolet Antique Car Show." Within an hour of arrival, we past out well over 100 handouts and answer questions from the concerned public. Many concerned people promised to write Bill Ransom and tell him their feelings.
Our next stop was the two day "Taste of Buffalo" event. Our NABET soldiers hit the WNY battlefield hoping to win a victory in the long struggle against the evil channel 7 "Empire." A small band of commandoes attacked the "Taste of Buffalo" with leaflets and "Turn Off 7" bags. It was a difficult assignment because Mother Nature whipped up a wild storm just as our guys started their work. Crowds of people went scrambling for cover, rain came pouring down in buckets, and winds sucked debris high into the air. For the next two hours, sheets of rain pelted downtown. Nevertheless, our guys and some of their family members persevered to hand out a huge amount of bags and many leaflets. As surprising as it may seem, at one point, it seemed like everywhere you looked there was a "Turn Off 7 News" bag.
AIR NABET made its flight around downtown and a LOT of people noticed! The workers fighting for their jobs where inundated with questions about what was going on. It's too bad our owners aren't as nice as the people of Buffalo. So many people promised to write and call the station. One man dialed and left a voice mail to Bill Ransom before leaving us. Buffalo is Great!!!
Need a New Car???
The "Turn off 7 News" campaign made stops at two major WKBW-TV Channel 7 advertisers. Two heartless car dealerships who don't support local workers. The union workers at WKBW-TV Channel 7, who have been working without a contact since January, once again asked the dealers to suspend their advertising buys from WKBW-TV Channel 7 until a fair contract has been reached. The owners of Basil Ford and Paddock Chevrolet are both happy with the idea that the money they spend to buy their ads, leaves Western New York and is happily accepted by the greedy hands of a Connecticut Hedge Fund, Silver Point Capital.
Everything is Coming Up Rosas
Over thirty Nabet and AFL-CIO union members took our "Turn off 7 News" campaign to the Sheridan Drive Rosas location. Union brothers from WIVB-TV Channel 4 and the WNY District of the AFL-CIO came out to walk side by side with the union membership from WKBW-TV Channel 7. We have been working without a contract since January 31st. We're asking Rosas to pull their advertising from WKBW-TV's air until the Channel 7 management negotiates fairly with its workers.
